We are also once again treated to Meryns antics. In the end the light comes from the love and spirits of the hodge poudge of the characters that make up the family. As always I look forward to more.

It’s funny because I’ve read this book at least three times, and the first read I liked it, the second time I skimmed it, and the third time I really liked it. For romance, this book has a lot of pull at the heart strings moments, which is what I love in books.
I think perhaps the reason I skimmed it the second time is there’s a case of mistaken identity. Anne believes that she is Keelan’s mate, because that’s what he said. He’s her best friend and he’s basically in a coma, and she wants to devote herself to taking care of him. But when she meets Kendrick, and is clearly very attracted to him, she forces herself to deny that he’s really her mate. It’s kind of really sad, Keenan is so lovable, especially after he saw Darian through his darkness, and for him to be gone, it’s just hard. And then to read both Anne and Kendrick dealing with their conflicting emotions, and intense loyalty to Keelan, it’s just sad.
Anne is really likable, she’s levelheaded and kind, she’s dedicated her life to caring for people, first for her parents and then as a nurse and finally in caring for Keelan. She’s also a nerd, which of course I love, but in different ways than Meryn; she watches anime and speaks Japanese and plays a lot of magic video games. Needless to say I really like her.
But Kendrick, man I love me some Kendrick. He’s everything you would want in a big brother. I love the way he talks to Keelan, or the little bits of memories from when Keelan was a baby. He’s also super smart, super strong, and really just an all around awesome guy. He’s kind of a kindred spirit for Meryn. He helps smooth out a lot of things coming at the group for different areas, but most importantly he really starts to put together the major pieces of the plot puzzle. And frankly, it’s heartbreaking and sad. Especially when you get to his personal connection to it all.
This is the last book in this pillar city, we get to move on to the vampire city next, which is super exciting, and thing definitely pick up from here.
My Brother's Keeper is the 5th book in the Bewitched and Bewildered series. If you have read any of my other reviews of the previous books, then I am sure I sound like a broken record, but this was another fantastic book to add to my love of this series. I was so excited to meet Kendrick. I was sad as to why we were meeting him, but he turned out to be another excellent addition to Alpha House. So did his mate Anne. I have loved every single Alpha member and their mate so much. There were so many twists and turns in My Brother's Keeper. As has been the case with each book in the series, I could not put it down. With the end of this book (and with the end of each of the previous books), I cannot wait to see what is going to happen next. As a reminder just in case you are not aware, this series must be read in order so you will be able to fully appreciate and understand this series. You will miss so much if you try to skip books or read out of order. It is an outstanding series and as part of this series My Brother's Keeper is not to be missed.

**Each book of the Bewitched and Bewildered series features a different couple finding love along with their very own happy ending and can technically be read as a standalone. However, there are recurring characters and an underlying interconnected conflict that play a major part in all the books, therefore to avoid spoilers, I highly recommend reading the books sequentially.

OMG! I loved, loved, loved My Brother's Keeper. Alder's books are like crack for us paranormal romance junkies! I can see it now Room in a church basement, a circle of chairs, surrounded by a group of grim faces, and I stand and say, "Hello, my name is Judy and I'm an Alanea Alder paranormal romance addict!" lol... All joking aside, Alder's books really are addictive. They're like potato chips; you can't stop with just one! This is the fifth book of the series and each story gets better and better! I can hardly wait to dive into the sixth! lol... I love unique paranormal romance, addicted to danger, action, adventure & suspense, completely smitten with sexy, alpha heroes, adore sassy, courageous heroines, and there's nothing I enjoy more than a few mind-bending plot twists along with a generous infusion of laugh-out-loud humor, but when I can get it all in one exceptionally well-crafted and beautifully written book, I'm in absolute heaven! And that's exactly what Alanea Alder delivered - AGAIN - in My Brother's Keeper, the fifth full-length paranormal romance in her riveting and highly imaginative Bewitched & Bewildered Series. Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain explicit language, some violence, and steamy, dreamy sex. Will I read this author again? Absolutely which is probably the best recommendation I can give! As a matter of fact, after completing the first book of this series, I raced back to and purchased the remaining nine books and signed up for her newsletter, which speaks volumes as to how much I enjoyed this author's work! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I was glued to my chair, white-knuckling my ereader, my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the pages flew as quickly as the pages!

I fell in love with gruff, growly Kendrick. He was so strong and such a mystery, but OMG, wait until you find out who he is! Shhh... No spoilers from me. And the beautiful, human nurse Anne was so loving and selfless, refusing to abandon her best friend! And talk about a case of mistaken identity and plot twists out the yazoo! Like wow! But Kendrick and Anne were just so perfect together. Sigh... so dreamy! If you've been following this series, I can hardly wait for you to find out the true identity of Kendrick and Keelan! Totally blew me away! ANd once again, this story ripped my heart out of my chest! I snickered, snorted, sniffled, snuffled, chuckled, and outright ugly cried through the entire story! But just a little warning, folks, don't start this book unless you have plenty of time; you will not want to stop until you reach the last page. I should know; I stayed up all night AGAIN because I couldn't stop reading! lol... Alanea Alder, you're killing me! If you enjoy perilous danger, intense drama, agonizing angst, pulse-pounding action, nail-biting suspense, side-splitting humor, heartwarming romance, and a few mind-blowing plot twists that you'll never see coming, then this book is screaming your name.
